Antibiotic resistance testing
Antibiotic resistance testing
After how many treatments, should you consider antibiotic resistance testing? Are there any noninvasive methods to test for h pylori antibiotic resistance?

if you are in a low antibiotic resistance region, then I think after 2 treatment failure, you should do antibiotic sensitivity testing.
if you are in high antibiotic resistance region, then i think 1 treatment failure is sufficient to ask for antibiotic sensitivity testing.

If a family member was infected and they went through multiple treatment failures before eradication, is it more likely you have resistant h. pylori? In this case, should you do antibiotic sensitivity testing even before first treatment?

If personal hygiene is well maintain, especially brushing teeth, then transmission among family member is normally rare.
there are many cases where the one had H. pylori eradicated without problem, but the partner took many treatments.
In the end of the day, it's up to the patients. If you think you want such testing, your doctor should provide you.
